It is known that endometriosis is a chronic condition that gradually destroys sections of the ovaries. When women suffering from endometriosis are to be submitted to any surgical procedure, it is recommended to remove a section of the ovaries that contains immature ova (eggs). The removed sections are frozen and can be preserved for several years. In this way, if a woman with endometriosis does not have children until menopause sets in, the frozen sections can be thawed and implanted with simple laparoscopy so that she can become pregnant after the age of menopause.
