Sperm Freezing

Sperm cryopreservation is a widely used, successfully implemented method, which yields high sperm survival rates after thawing.

Sperm samples are processed with special cryoprotectant substances and stored in liquid nitrogen (-196°C), and may be used subsequently whenever the couple wishes.

Indications

  • When the husband cannot be present during the IVF procedure
  • Before starting chemotherapy or undergoing surgery that may affect the number and/or quality of sperm

The frozen sample may be preserved for five years and this period may be extended upon written request by the beneficiary.
